With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we invite you to join Jazzville, NJ in sharing your love of New Jersey Jazz. Each month, we attend several events around NJ with a group of dedicated jazz fans, and this month features a special treat:
On Sunday, Feb 13th, we’ll be checking out Tia Fuller’s performance as part of William Paterson University’s Jazz Room Series. Tia is perhaps best known as the sax player in the all-female band which backs R&B sensation Beyonce. When she’s not on tour with the mega-star, she has her feet firmly planted in the jazz world, having released three of her own albums to date.
In two weeks (Sunday, Feb 27th) we’ll be at one of our favorite haunts, the Robin’s Nest in Linden, for their weekly Open Jazz Jam. Anyone can join in with the band, and you never know who will stop by. I’ve heard that Bernard “Pretty” Purdie (who holds the unofficial title of “World’s Most Recorded Drummer”) and David Pastorius (yes, Jaco’s nephew!) dropped in recently for impromptu numbers. We never know where the night will take us, but it’s always an adventure at the Robin’s Nest.
For more info about how to join us for the Tia Fuller performance, click here. If you’d like details on meeting us in two weeks for the Robin’s Nest, click here.
If you can’t make these meetups, but you you’d like to join us for future shows, keep an eye on our Jazzville, NJ Meetup page.
Till then, peace and jazz!
