If you work in the Newark area, consider peeling yourself away from your desk long enough to attend the Newark Museum’s “Jazz In The Garden” Festival, held Thursdays in July. Currently in its 45th year, “Jazz In The Garden” is one of the nation’s longest running jazz festivals and among the museum’s most popular cultural events.
Held from 12:15 to 1:45pm, these concerts are just right for those looking to take a quick jazz break from the office.
Schedule of performances:
July 1- Louis Hayes Quintet (listen to samples at Amazon.com)
July 8- Brandon McCune (pianist) w/ guest vocalist (listen to samples at his site)
July 15- The Heath Brothers: Jimmy Heath (tenor sax) & “Tootie” (drummer) (listen to samples)
July 22- Dominick Farinacci (trumpeter) (listen to samples at his MySpace page)
