Stan Myers, Host of the Tuesday night Open Jazz Jam at Crossroads in Garwood, NJ gestures to make a point as he announces the next tune.

Just a quick announcement about some free events going on for Jazz Appreciation Month:

  • For those with children, NJ’s own jazz station (WBGO 88.3FM) is running their annual Kids Jazz Series every Saturday afternoon through May 4th.
Full details can be found here.
Just be sure to bring a child. Adults will not be admitted without one!

  • For those a little further south, NJ’s own Jazz Arts Project is running a jazz lecture series at Red Bank’s Count Basie Theatre on Monday evenings through April 29th.
Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. Full details can be found here.

And of course, there’s the perpetual assortment of standard jazz concerts taking place at clubs and other venues around the Garden State. So get out there and celebrate Jazz Appreciation month with some live jazz!
