An Appeal To The Community: Acoustic Alchemy Gear Stolen

In a great example of just how big the jazz genre is, today I was surprised to learn that Acoustic Alchemy – a group I had always considered to be “World Music” or “New Age” – is in fact considered a jazz group. Awesome! I’ve only followed their music for a few years, but everything I’ve heard is a fantastical mix of relaxed, mellow, upbeat and positive. Listening to their work is like listening to a motivational speech.

It was therefore with a lot of of sadness that I read that the UK based group had their van broken into in Milford, CT, late Monday night/ early Tuesday morning, interrupting their current US tour. Since most of their gear was stolen, it looked like the remaining shows might not happen. Luckily they have been granted replacement gear by some local vendors – however, it’s only temporary, and the group would love to have their stuff back.

They’ve posted a list of missing equipment on their Facebook page and have asked communities particularly in the CT / NY / NJ areas to keep an eye on local papers, pawn shops and the like, places where the gear is most likely to be pawned. (Personally, I think the stuff will end up on eBay or Craigslist.)

I am sure the band realizes what a long shot it is to recover their equipment, but if everyone pays attention and “says something if they see something,” perhaps we can recover these fine musicians’ gear and get them back to making great music.
