The Jazzville crew had a great time living out their inner “Sideways” fantasies this past weekend at the Blues & Wine Festival that was held at Natirar State Park. After all, what could be better than sampling more than 200 fine NJ wines from 23 local wineries, all while swaying to live blues?

We only made it to the Sunday portion of the two-day event, but we heard the music Saturday was first-rate. The Billy Hector Band rocked out on that afternoon – no surprise considering Hector was recently named “Best Guitarist” at the Asbury Park Music Awards.

Sunday featured the dynamic Tom Larsen Band. Lead guitarist Tom Larsen charmed listeners – he ventured out into the crowd at one point and borrowed both a wine glass and a beach chair to use as a guitar slide. It’s no wonder he’s been going strong for the last 25 years, creating his own style of blues “tailor-made to shake up [any] venue or event.”

If you didn’t get a chance to attend this time, mark your calendars for next year!  Our hats go off to our gracious hosts and entertainers. Thanks for an awesome time!
