Great news for live Jazz fans in New Jersey!

Union County Performing Arts Center has been chosen (along with New York City’s prestigious Carnegie Hall and 18 other venues) as a Member of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s Jazz Touring Network. See their press release here.

What does this mean for you, the Jazz fan?

More live jazz, more frequently with more performers! Who could argue with that?

How can you stay in touch and find out about Jazz events at UCPAC?

  1. Join their mailing list here.
  2. Beome a fan on their Facebook page.
  3. Follow them on Twitter.

So why is this bad news for whoever writes UCPAC’s press releases?

Well, mostly because the end of their press release lists the other Jazz Touring Network members in the most confusing possible way. It would have made it a whole lot easier to read if they had listed them out in list form like so:

Selected to be among twenty other Jazz presenters, the UCPAC is honored to be a new member of the Jazz Touring Network.  The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Jazz Touring Network members include:

  • Apple Farm Arts & Music Center (Elmer, NY)
  • Black Rock Center for the Arts (Germantown, MD)
  • Carnegie Hall (Lewisburg, WV)
  • Celebrity Artist Series (Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA)
  • Christina Cultural Arts Center (Wilmington, DE)
  • Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences (Charleston, WV)
  • DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival (Wilmington, DE)
  • Frostburg State University Cultural Events Series (Frostburg, MD)
  • Garth Newel Music Center (Warm Springs, VA)
  • Guaracini Performing Arts Center (Cumberland County College, Vineland, NJ)
  • Hamilton College of Performing Arts (Clinton, NJ)

  • Music at Gretna (Elizabethtown, PA)
  • Paramount Center for the Arts (Peekskill, NY)
  • Reg Lenna Civic Center (Jamestown, NY)
  • THE ARC (Washington, DC), The Prizery (South Boston, VA)

Now, see? Isn’t that a whole heck of a lot easier to read? The way they had written it, my brain just shut down. With seemingly no beginning, middle or end to that amorphous blob of text, I just can’t get through it.

So take heed, press release writer, and up your game on the next one, eh?

Oh, and congratulations, UCPAC, on the honor.
